PURCELL COLLEGIATE

Purcell International Education (PIE) is currently developing a world-class international boarding school in Kimberley, BC. The school, Purcell Collegiate, will be licensed as a Group 4 Independent School under the BC Ministry of Education classification scheme with the majority of students being recruited from outside British Columbia and all of the students being fee-paying (none will qualify for funding from the BC government). The school will employ BC-certified teachers and follow the BC curriculum (grades 7 -12) and offer specialized courses including but not limited to: outdoor and environmental education; STEM-related courses in the areas of coding, robotics, artificial intelligence and forensic science; business and entrepreneurship; and various Fine Arts classes. There will also be advanced coaching and training opportunities for student athletes in various sports academies, including hockey initially and expanding to soccer, golf, and other NCAA-scholarship qualifying sports. The campus master plan will include an academic building, gymnasium, and student dormitories as well as an artificial turf, multi-purpose playing field and various outdoor learning spaces.

In June 2019, following a near-unanimous vote by the membership, PIE finalized an Option to Purchase agreement with the Kimberley Golf Club. Once executed, the agreement will provide PIE with a world-class location for the campus of Purcell Collegiate on 21 acres of land on the current site of holes 6, 7, 8, and 9. In return, PIE will build four new holes for the golf course and engage a long-term partnership with the club that will ensure a mutually-beneficial future for both the golf course and the school.
